Comment on the 2010 Strategic Plan

Below is the text of our 2010 Strategic Plan. Feel free to post your comments.

SLA-NY Vision and Mission Statements

VISION

Situated in a global center of knowledge and knowledge professionals, the SLA New York Chapter identifies, defines, and communicates the value of its members. The Chapter anticipates and evaluates trends with the intention of exploring and creating opportunities to influence the knowledge industry.

MISSION
The New York Chapter will be the regional catalyst for the fostering and discussion of new professional ideas through which its members will become the most competitively positioned knowledge professionals in the metropolitan area.

Advocacy
Champions the value of our membership to the information and knowledge marketplace. Promotes the recognition of accomplishments within the organization and society.

Education
Identifies and communicates new employment trends and creates training opportunities to cultivate an evolving skill set and expertise.

Community
Connects members to a network of information professionals, recruiters, vendors, students, and other related information industry partners, fostering a collaborative approach to advocacy of the profession and learning.

Information Policy
Aspires to enable our members to define, influence and execute information policy within their organization.

  1. I think leadership and diversity are missing and I would love to see those incorporated.

  2. What I would like to see now is the next stage of the Strategic Plan - fleshing out all those statements above with specifics on how they can be implemented (and presumably in what time frame).

    Thank you for your comment.

    The next step for the plan is to flesh out the actions items for acheiving the vision/mission statments. The committee, however, is seeking comments on what has all ready been completed.

    Do you have any comments about the plan as it stands now? Do you think we are missing anything? Should we not focus on a specific area that has not been mention?

    Any comment towards the questions mentioned above would be helpful.
